Centro Victoria Seeks to Incorporate More Mexican-American Literature into Texas Classrooms

Effort to increase Mexican-American textbook, materials throughout state

Centro Victoria is working to increase Texas students’ exposure to Mexican-American literature with the help of a new educational handbook.

Since last year, Centro Victoria has worked to distribute “Made in Texas: Mexican American Literature and Culture” to several school districts and institutions of higher learning throughout the state.

“It’s a grassroots effort one classroom at a time,” said Macarena Hernandez, managing director of Centro Victoria.
